This cold weather has hit various parts of China, including the central, eastern, and southern regions, resulting in heavy snowfall, according to Reuters. The Central Meteorological Observatory forecasted that the icy weather will continue until Wednesday. As a result, many travelers have been stuck in their cars for days, while train travelers have experienced countless cancellations and delays. Even air travel has been affected, with flights being temporarily canceled at Wuhan’s Tianhe International Airport. Despite these challenges, the spring festival holiday is an important celebration in China, marking the beginning of spring and the start of a new year on the lunar calendar. This annual holiday always leads to a surge in domestic travel, with this year’s festival expected to generate a record nine billion trips, according to the Ministry of Transport.
