A recent fraud case brought against Donald Trump by Attorney General Letitia James has resulted in a judgement for Trump to pay the state of New York $355 million. This fraud case was initiated in 2019 with a hearing where Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez grilled Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Donald Trump and his company have been ordered to pay a total of nearly $364 million in penalties. Trump’s personal penalty amounts to $355 million, as Judge Arthur Engoron described the conduct as “frauds” in his verdict. The Trump organization has stated its intention to appeal. The case was initiated due to questioning by Ocasio-Cortez, following up on previous queries made by Michael Cohen, about Trump’s business practices. Cohen later testified during the trial, revealing how methods of valuing Trump’s assets were manipulated.
