Anambra lawyer who allegedly brutalised 11-year-old maid surrenders to police after minister’s N2m bounty

An Anambra lawyer, Adachukwu Okafor, has turned herself in to the police after allegedly abusing her 11-year-old maid. The minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, had placed a N2m bounty on her, which led to her surrender.

Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, the media aide to the State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, confirmed that the suspect surrendered to the Anambra Police Command in Awka. She reportedly injured the minor, Happiness Nwafor, with knives and other sharp objects.

Adachukwu will be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka next week, according to Obinabo. The victim is expected to be discharged from the hospital.

It’s essential to hold those who commit acts of abuse accountable, and this case demonstrates the importance of standing up for victims of mistreatment.
