Introducing Gemini 1.5, Google’s next-generation AI model

Hey there! We’ve got some exciting news to share about the latest release of Gemini, version 1.5. The Gemini team, led by Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, has been hard at work testing, refining, and enhancing the capabilities of this next-generation AI model.

Gemini 1.5 brings some major improvements in performance, thanks to a new Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, making it more efficient to train and serve. The first model released for early testing is Gemini 1.5 Pro, a mid-size multimodal model optimized for a wide range of tasks and performing at a similar level to its predecessor, 1.0 Ultra. It introduces a ground-breaking experimental feature in long-context understanding.

And here’s the kicker – Gemini 1.5 Pro comes with a standard 128,000 token context window, but a select group of developers and enterprise customers can try it with a context window of up to 1 million tokens through AI Studio and Vertex AI in a private preview.

But we’re not done yet! We’re actively working on optimizations to improve latency, reduce computational requirements, and enhance the user experience with the full 1 million token context window. These advancements will open up new possibilities for people, developers, and enterprises to create, discover, and build using AI. It’s a game-changer for sure! Stay tuned for more details on future availability.
