Bandits kidnap Catholic priest and 15 others in Taraba

I just learned that a group of bandits have taken 16 people, including a Catholic priest named Rev. Cletus Baleri, hostage in the Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State. The kidnappers reportedly attacked the Dekko, Lama, and Monkin villages early Saturday morning, and it’s believed that over 100 gunmen were involved in the abduction. Sadly, many villagers were injured while trying to escape into the mountains during the attacks. So far, details are still coming in and law enforcement is working to determine the exact number of people who have been taken. The victims named so far include Rev. Cletus Baleri, Ceto Alfred, Bege Mark, Felix Shawulu, Jacob Bayu, Anatus Luka, Timothy Abraham, Yasida Emmanuel, Tsaro Solomon, Oldboy Yohanna, Rejoice Abraham, Mercy Cleopas, James Irimiya, Bulus Timothy, Yohanna Linus, and Evelyn Yohanna. Our thoughts are with them and their families.
