Body of Corps member who died during AFCON semifinal match departs Adamawa for his hometown

The late National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Yunusa Peter, who tragically passed away while watching the AFCON semifinal match between Nigeria and South Africa, has had his body transported from Yola, Adamawa State to his hometown in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State for his final interment.

According to reports, Yunusa collapsed and died while watching the match, which ultimately led to a penalty shootout, in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Wednesday, February 7. The Super Eagles emerged victorious in the game.

The 26-year-old Yunusa, who was a graduate in Community Health from Shehu Idris College of Health Technology, Makarfi, Kaduna State, was expected to complete his national youth service program by October 31, 2024.

Prior to his passing, Yunusa was a Chemistry teacher at Government Secondary School in Numan.

Various dignitaries, including the Secretary to Numan LGA, Elder David Belu Alfredmond, and the Principal of Government Secondary School Numan, gathered at Numan bridge on Saturday, February 10, to bid farewell to Yunusa. His funeral is slated to take place on Sunday, February 11.
